What first drew you to events and furniture, and how did Flock Events come to be?

Flock began with a love of great furniture and a belief that furniture is never just furniture. It shapes how people move through a space, where they gather and how an event feels.

Our new owners, Dave & Erin, came to Flock with years of experience in the events industry through Gravity Events (AV, lighting & production), along with a genuine love of furniture and design. Taking on Flock felt like a natural opportunity to explore another side of events and the role furniture plays in shaping a space.

While the two businesses operate separately, they share an understanding that every element influences how an event feels. For our team, this new chapter brings together extensive events experience, thoughtful design and an exciting vision for Flock’s future.

How would you describe your style or point of difference in a few words?

Curated, considered, design led and never too predictable.

We’re drawn to layered spaces that bring together different textures, silhouettes, eras and materials. Rather than imposing a particular “Flock look,” we give people the range and creative freedom to make a space feel distinctly their own.

What’s trending right now in wedding furniture?

Personality and fewer rules.

Couples are moving away from perfectly matched sets and embracing unexpected combinations, sculptural table shapes and lounge areas that feel more like beautifully designed living spaces.

We also see furniture considered earlier in the planning process. It is becoming part of the wider creative concept, helping to establish the mood, shape the space and tell the couple’s story. For us, that shift is far more exciting than any single trend.

When should couples start thinking about furniture hire in their planning timeline?

As soon as you know your venue and have a reasonable idea of guest numbers, especially if furniture will be central to the look and atmosphere of the day.

For peak wedding dates, 6-12 months ahead is ideal, particularly if you have your heart set on specific pieces. That said, we regularly help couples much closer to their date, so it is always worth asking.

Furniture shapes the floor plan, creates natural gathering points and influences how guests experience the space, so the earlier it is considered, the more seamlessly everything can come together.

What can couples expect from your range? Any signature pieces or collections you’re known for?

The scale and variety of the collection is one of Flock’s greatest strengths. We have everything from contemporary velvet furniture and Indonesian rattan pieces to statement bars, lounges, dining and cocktail furniture, tables and tableware. We also have the quantity needed to bring a cohesive concept to life at scale.

More recently, we have added draping and are building a collection of fabrics, colours and textures. Draping introduces softness, movement and another layer of atmosphere, opening up even more possibilities for creating something completely individual.

What’s your best advice for a couple who wants their day to feel effortless?

Choose suppliers you trust, tell them what genuinely matters to you and then give them the freedom to do what they do best.

The secret to an effortless wedding is often all the thought and care happening quietly behind the scenes.

Outside of weddings, what’s inspiring you at the moment?

Interiors, fashion, restaurants, hotels, art and architecture are constant sources of inspiration. We’re interested in the details that make you feel something when you enter a space, even if you cannot immediately explain why.

The experience Dave & Erin bring from the AV and production world through Gravity Events has also introduced a broader perspective on atmosphere. Lighting can change the mood of a piece, production can reshape a venue and furniture can influence how people experience the environment.

Bringing that shared knowledge is encouraging us to think more expansively about spaces, what makes them memorable, and we feel we are only just beginning to explore what is possible.
